Model placement · Version 3.2
Rotate first. Fit only when you choose.
EFUGY keeps the model’s imported dimensions visible, lets you try a new orientation, and waits for you to choose whether the part should be scaled to the printer.
Out-of-bounds models remain blocked from slicing until their placement and size fit the selected build volume.
The core idea
Your model keeps its original size until you choose otherwise.
Version 3.2 separates orientation from scaling so you can see whether the original model fits before changing its dimensions.
- 01Import at original size
EFUGY stores the model’s imported dimensions and shows when the part extends beyond the selected printer.
- 02Try a better orientation
Rotate the model while its original scale remains intact. A long part may fit diagonally or on another face.
- 03Choose Fit to Printer only when useful
Use Fit to Printer when you intentionally want EFUGY to scale the model into the available build volume.
- 04Return with Original Size
Original Size restores the stored imported-size state after custom scaling.
Choose the right action
Rotate, fit, or change the printer profile.
Rotate
Use rotation when the model may fit at its intended size in another orientation.
Fit to Printer
Use Fit to Printer when changing the model’s physical size is acceptable for the part.
Original Size
Use Original Size when you want to undo custom scaling and return to the stored imported dimensions.
Change profile
Choose a different printer only when that is the machine you will actually use. Never select a larger profile just to remove the warning.
When slicing stays blocked
Slicing stays blocked until the model fits.
A model outside X, Y, or Z does not fit the selected build volume. Check orientation, scale, and printer profile before trying again.
